Meet the team

At the heart of Huzzah are Katie Howard and Wendy Windle. We’ve been working as a team since 2012 to deliver holiday clubs where children are accepted exactly as they are, and encouraged to be everything they can be. Huzzah came out of asking ourselves the question:

“What if instead of focussing on whether or not a child can say lines or nail a dance move, we use the performing arts to give all children something that will last a lifetime: calm, creativity, and confidence?”

The result is our unique blend of growth mindset practices, mindfulness, and an approach to teaching the performing arts that builds skills for life. Of course the children don’t know about all the care that goes into building their days with us; they come back every holiday because Huzzah is friendly and fun.

Every child needs a balance of challenge and encouragement to grow into the fullest expression of themselves.

I was such a shy child I had to practice saying ‘Hello’ in the mirror and was already a teenager when a teacher insisted that I come out from behind my books to try acting. I discovered I could be everything on stage I was too scared to be in life. Since then, I’ve been fascinated by the intersection between performing arts and mental resilience. I’ve been teaching since 1998 and I’m still awed every time I see a Huzzah student expand their idea about who they can be. Even though it feels like magic, it’s neuroscience!

Seemingly confident on the outside, I was the kid who crumbled inside at the slightest criticism. That quiet struggle sparked an idea: to build a performing arts company that nurtures resilience and builds confidence from the inside-out. My degree in acting gave me the tools; becoming a parent gave me the drive. I always loved making people laugh and I believe fun, silliness, and clowning aren’t just joyful—they’re powerful tools for building confidence. Now, I’m driven to create spaces where young people feel seen, strong, and free to express who they really are—without fear of falling apart.

A little about me: I‘m dog-obsessed, enjoy crime documentaries, and could live on ice cream! I love working at Huzzah, and I have always had a strong passion for teaching children. My classes are infused with energy, positivity, and ample opportunities for every child to flourish. Witnessing students gain new skills and confidence is truly incredible, and I love being a helping hand on their journey.

I’m from a small town in the Italian Alps and trained as an actress in Barcelona and London.

What I love most about teaching is sharing my love for storytelling and seeing that twinkle in the kids eyes when they are proud of what they have created. My superpowers are making people laugh and learning new languages!

I have been teaching for over 10 years and absolutely love working for Huzzah! The work ethic I received whilst training is something I try to install in my classes whilst making sure they’re super fun and exciting. Seeing students improve in confidence or skill is definitely something I love as a teacher.

My career in teaching feels like it only started properly once I started working with Huzzah - helping me build my confidence in teaching and leadership. My favourite bit of the job is seeing the children use their imaginations to create and perform pieces of work - either in games or in a play!

Teaching dance allows me to share my passion while helping children grow in confidence, creativity, and coordination. Their energy and joy are contagious, and seeing their progress and excitement on stage is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why I fell in love with dance. My goal is to support them in reaching their full potential in every way I can.
